Artwork Guidelines

File Format (your artwork file)

To print your sign properly, we need your design in a 'ready-to-print' file.

The best types are:

  • .pdf
  • .ai
  • .eps

These are special files that keep everything sharp and clear, no matter how big the sign may be.

If you don't have one of these, your graphic designer can usually make it for you.

N.B. It’s generally best not to use Canva or similar programs for final signwriting files, because they often don’t provide the precise vectors, accurate colours, or production-ready format needed for professional results.

Fonts

We need the writing in your design to be 'locked in' so it prints exactly the way you see it.

This is called converting text to outlines.

If this isn't done, the writing might change or not print correctly if we don't have the same font on our system.

Colours

Designs should be made in CMYK colours.

This is just the colour system printers use, so what you see on the screen matches the printed sign as closely as possible.

Artwork Charges (extra design work)

If you send us a print-ready file, there are no extra charges.

There may be a fee of $90.00 per hour + GST if:

  • Your file can't be printed as-is and needs fixing
  • The image quality is too low or blurry
  • We need to redraw or rebuild your design
  • You only have a rough idea and no finished artwork
  • We need to edit photos or move things around in the design

GP signs will notify you pre-order if artwork charges will apply.
